Abstract

The exchange interaction between band carriers and localized magnetic moments was studied in MBE grown zinc blende Mg 1− x Mn x Te epilayers. Magnetic circular dichroism and magnetization were measured as a function of magnetic field at low temperature. The obtained exchange parameter ( N 0 α− N 0 β) is lower than in Cd 1− x Mn x Te and Zn 1− x Mn x Te. Possible mechanisms leading to weaker s,p–d exchange interaction in Mg 1− x Mn x Te are discussed.
