Abstract

Magneto-optical properties with quaternary CdMnFeTe films deposited on quartz glass substrates by using molecular beam epitaxy equipment are studied in the visible wavelength region. The properties are compared with those of the conventional ternary CdMnTe films, and it is shown that the Faraday rotation of CdMnFeTe film is almost one order of magnitude larger than that of CdMnTe film at both room and low temperatures. At 77 K, the Faraday rotation of −2.8°/cm G at 560 nm was observed for the Cd 0.367Mn 0.609Fe 0.024Te film.
