Abstract
The critical magnetic surface behaviour of nickel films has been studied by magnetooptic Kerr measurements. For three films of 1340, 1200 and 260 Å we obtained the same critical exponents β = 0.56±0.02, γ = 1.00±0.15, and δ = 3.00±0.20, which differ distinctly from the bulk values and which are shifted towards the theoretical local surface exponents of the Ising and Heisenberg models.
