Abstract

The magnetooptical effects of magnetoreflection, magnetoabsorption, and the Faraday rotation in the diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS) Cd/sub 1-x/Mn/sub x/Te, Cd/sub 1-x/Fe/sub x/Te, and Pb/sub 1-x/Mn/sub x/I/sub 2/ have been investigated. For CdFeTe alloy the range of temperature dependence of spin splitting and anisotropic Faraday effect have been found and interpreted by Van Vleck paramagnetism in Fe-based DMS. Results received for different DMS have been analyzed from the point of view of the relationship between constants of s, p-d exchange interaction, a degree of the Faraday rotation enhancement, and oscillator strength of excitonic transition. It is suggested that the reduction of the exchange interaction with simultaneous increasing of the Faraday effect in Pb/sub 1-x/Mn/sub x/I/sub 2/ crystals is due to the layer structure of a lattice of this type of DMS.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
