Abstract

The proposed new magnetooptical method gives the particle shape distribution in the solution. The method is based on study of the magnetooptical effect in colloids in rotating magnetic fields. This method is designed for the study of disperse systems with magnetoanisotropic particles. In this paper the results of experiments on polymorphism of aqueous suspensions (p-terphenyl, picene and chrysene) are presented. It is shown that shape distribution functions obtained by this method are in good agreement with histograms of electron-microscopic analysis of the systems under study.
