Abstract

Magnetometric resistivity test surveys using current dipoles of 1 kilometre and 0.6 kilometres demonstrate that the Elura ore body lies within an approximate grid north south trending channel of higher conductivity. Slightly lower relative conduction over the Elura ore body on the 1 kilometre array may be due to a more resistive outer shell of siliceous ore offsetting the greater conductivity of the inner massive pyrite or pyrrhotite to galvanic current flow. A multi-source (Edwards) array showed distinct magnetometric resistivity and interior polarisation axes over the Elura ore body but not to the south thereof. As these are associated with 200 to 300 metres current dipoles they are considered to be due to the sulphides within the upper conductive and polarisable section of the Elura ore body.
