Abstract

The effect of a transverse magnetic field on a one-dimensional metallic current carrying conductor is considered. The field produces a transverse electric polarization which is wavevector dependent, and which causes a transverse magnetoelectric field. The magnitude of the effect is estimated for typical one dimensional conductors.
