Abstract

A magnetoelectric brake with a massive armature has one of the best ratios of the moment weight of active materials, e.g., 20–27 Nm/kg. For the optimal design of the brake, a harmonic analysis of flux linkage and electromotive force (EMF) was carried out, the harmonics that have the most significant influence on brake characteristics were found, and the value of specific losses from eddy currents in an array of steel 10 was estimated.
