Abstract

The possibility of testing the thicknesses of nickel coatings under chromium coatings on two-layer (nonferromagnetic-ferromagnetic) bases by the magnetodynamic method has been substantiated theoretically and experimentally. The technique and an instrument have been developed; they provide the inspection of nickel coatings of the combustors of liquid-propellant engines that are up to 700 μm thick and under chromium coatings that are up to 150 μm thick, with an error of up to ±10% regardless of the thickness of the coating; such an error is due to the chromium effect, the structural state of the nickel, and the magnetization of the combustor body.
