Abstract

Magnetocardiograms (MCGs) represent a non-invasive method of measuring functional information concerning the electrical activity of the heart. We suggest a method to discriminate irregular signal source activation. We obtained the MCG measurements of normal subjects and Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome patients. The MCGs were measured with a three-dimensional second-order gradiometer connected to a 39-channel superconducting quantum interface device (SQUID), which could simultaneously detect magnetic field components perpendicular to the chest wall (Bz) and tangential to the chest wall (Bx, By). The integral map differences in the spatial distribution of normal subjects and a WPW syndrome patient were examined. The main signal of QRS complex is not easy to investigate when the activation follows an irregular pattern. We discriminated a delta-wave signal from a QRS complex signal when we studied the imaginary part of coherency, correlation oefficient and singular value decomposition(SVD).
