Abstract

A unified theoretical description is given for the magneto-phonon resonance in: (1) the linear resistivity, and (2) the cyclotron resonance linewidth and frequency for electrons confined to two dimensions. The resonances occur for ω* ≈ Nωc where ω* is slightly less than the LO-phonon frequency ωLO. This can be explained as due to the broadening of the Landau levels.
