Abstract

Domain wall dynamics in thin films of amorphous rare-earth–transition-metal alloys are investigated using numerical integration of the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation. A two-dimensional square lattice of dipoles with nearest-neighbor exchange interaction and random axis anisotropy is simulated and the structure of domain walls (with and without Bloch lines) is determined. The motion of domain walls under applied fields is then considered and the effects of random spatial variations of magnetic parameters upon wall mobility are discussed.
