Abstract

Measurements of magnetization, ac susceptibility and microwave absorption at 9.6 and 35 GHz, have been carried out with single crystals of Ho 50Tb 50 and Ho 30Gd 70. The critical temperatures for Ho 50Tb 50 are in agreement with previous published results, Ho 30Gd 70 is a basal plane ferromagnet with T c = 244 K. Anisotropy constants and coefficients have been derived from the microwave measurements for Ho 30Gd 70, the value of κ 0 2 at 0 K is found to be 0.21×10 8 erg cm -3; 〈1 1 00〉; is the easy axis
