Abstract

The use of the augmented space recursion (ASR) coupled with tight-binding linearized muffin tin orbital method as an ideal methodology for the study of electronic and magnetic structures of rough surfaces, interfaces and overlayers is proposed here. The present method deals satisfactorily with roughness, short-ranged clustering effects and interdiffusion. We present here results on magnetism of Fe overlayer on Cu, Ag and Au substrates.
