Abstract

In an antiferromagnetic superconductor ErNi 2B 2C, we investigated the effects of magnetic order on the quasiparticle excitation spectrum using a low-temperature STM. We found an anomalous peak in the quasiparticle damping as well as suppression in the gap amplitude around 5.5 K, which is just below the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature. This phenomenon suggests the existence of the additional scattering mechanism due to antiferromagnetic ordering other than the spin fluctuation.
