Abstract

Magnetically separable Ag-ZnO-ZnFe2O4 hollow nano-photocatalysts were successfully synthesized. The samples were characterized by x-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet visible Spectroscopy (UV–VIS), photocurrent density test, degradation RhB, and magnetic recycling. The samples have a hollow nanostructure with a particle size distribution of about 220 nm, a shell thickness of about 23 nm, and full of holes on the surface. The photocatalytic and photocurrent experiments exhibited the order: Ag-ZnO-ZnFe2O4 > ZnO-ZnFe2O4 > ZnO > ZnFe2O4. With the 0.15 mmol AgNO3 added, the photocatalytic efficiency and photocurrent intensity of Ag-ZnO-ZnFe2O4 were the highest.
