Abstract

By combination of the benefits of magnetic and inertial confinements, a new fusion scheme is introduced with a plasma density of \ensuremath{\gtrsim}${10}^{21}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}3}$ whose pressure is confined by inertia of a metallic container of a cannonball type while its heat is insulated by a self-generated magnetic field of \ensuremath{\gtrsim}100 T.
