Abstract

Magnetically driven shape memory alloys experience the martensitic transformation while being in a ferromagnetic state. Two-way shape memory can be achieved through the shift of martensite–austenite transition, and a giant magnetostriction could be obtained through the redistribution of martensitic variants under magnetic field. The realization of these effects can constitute grounds for the development of new technologies in medicine and industry.
