Abstract
The magnetic susceptibilities of molten Ge-Te and Sn-Te alloys have been measured as a function of concentration and temperature. Curves of the isothermal susceptibilities for Sn-Te system show a large deviation from the linearly interpolated ones at the composition near Sn 50 Te 50 . On the contrary for molten Ge-Te system a rather small deviation is found around 45 at% of Te. From these results, the electronic state and chemical bonding in liquid IV-Te system are discussed in comparison with those in liquid IIIb-Te system.
