Abstract

A magneto-optical disk memory with a magnetic super resolution (MSR) method can get large capacity beyond the optical limitation. One of the MSR methods is realized by a readout layer that shows in-plane magnetization at room temperature and perpendicular magnetization above a specific temperature. Here, the recording and readout characteristics of the MSR disk are investigated and a magnetic field modulation recording method is examined. The recording density reaches 2.5Gbit/inch2 with a 680nm wavelength laser.
