Abstract

Magnetic properties of an anisotropic mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising square lattice are studied within the framework of the linear chain approximation (LCA) method. LCA is formulated on the basis of Gibbs-Bogolyubov variational principle in order to obtain all thermodynamic quantities in a self-consistent manner.
