Abstract
RNiSn2 (R=Tb, Dy, Ho) compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic LuNiSn2-type structure. Magnetic and neutron diffraction measurements show that all compounds are antiferromagnets with the Néel temperature 5.2 K for R=Tb, 6.5 K for R=Dy and 2.2 K for R=Ho. Neutron diffraction data indicate the presence of a complex magnetic order. In TbNiSn2 and DyNiSn2 the rare earth moments form noncollinear magnetic structure while in HoNiSn2 the Ho moments form a collinear antiferromagnetic structure described by the Az mode with a different magnitude of the magnetic moment in each sublattice.
