Abstract

Magnetic states of iron borate, FeBO3 single crystal subjected to a superposition of high hydrostatic and uniaxial pressures have been analysed in the framework of a thermodynamic approach. It is shown that the uniaxial pressure component in the basal plane can deflect the magnetization from the basal plane of the crystal. The results obtained are in good agreement with available experimental data on magnetic states of FeBO3 at high quasi-hydrostatic pressure.
