Abstract

The magnetic states of the BaFe2-xCoxAs2 single crystal samples have been studied by magnetization and electron spin resonance measurements. We find a transformation of the Fe2+ spin state from high temperature high-spin state to low temperature low-spin state, indicating a small crystal field splitting energy. In the superconducting samples, both the magnetization and electron spin resonance results suggest an itinerant behavior of the system.
