Abstract

We report here the formation of soliton lattice in copper metaborate CuB 2 O 4 , which is an candidate for a chiral magnetic structure. We performed the neutron diffraction experiments under an applied magnetic field perpendicular to the helical axis. In the temperature between 1.6 and 6 K under the magnetic field, we found a new incommensurate magnetic phase, which was supposed to be a commensurate magnetic structure from the magnetization measurements. In the boundary just between the conventional incommensurate and the new incommensurate magnetic phases, we observed higher order magnetic satellite peaks, which can be an evidence of chiral soliton formation.
