Abstract

The surfaces of voids inevitably present in a-Si and a-Ge should display nonideal antiferromagnetic or spin-glass ordering. They may trap charge carriers into states with giant magnetic moments which may explain the anomalous magnetic field dependence of some electrical and optical properties of these materials.
