Abstract

Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography (MREIT) algorithms to reconstruct conductivity distribution have been proposed in literature. Current density distribution required for J-based MREIT algorithms can be determined by measuring distribution of magnetic flux density, B, created by these currents. This technique is known as Magnetic Resonance Current Density Imaging (MRCDI). Calculation of current density distribution from magnetic flux density measurements requires all three components of magnetic flux density as described by Biot-Savart relationship. MRI scanner can measure the component of B parallel with the main magnetic field. Therefore, object rotation is necessary to measure all three components of B. In this study, a novel current density reconstruction algorithm using only the z-component of B, B z , is proposed.
