Abstract

Taylor's theory (J.B. Taylor 1974) of magnetic relaxation is developed to driven systems, in which helicity is injected into the plasma from an external source. Applications are presented to solar plasmas, in the context of the solar coronal heating problem, and laboratory plasmas in a spheromak system.
