Abstract

Domain models of dynamic magnetization in ferromagnetic metallic glasses are described in order to predict the behavior of metallic glasses in magnetic pulse compression systems. Formulas are developed relating basic magnetic properties of these materials to the design of saturable inductors for series resonant devices. Measurements of induced magnetic anisotropy energies between 50 and 920 J/m3 are given for several Fe- and Co-based metallic glasses together with measurements of dynamic magnetic losses and permeabilities versus time-to-saturation from 60 ns to 100 μs.
