Abstract

Results of magnetic measurements performed on Y3Co11−xFexB4 compounds, x≤6, are presented. The Curie temperatures and saturation magnetizations increase as cobalt is substituted by iron. Assuming a mean iron magnetic moment MFe = 1.5 μB/at., the dependence of the mean cobalt moment on the exchange field is determined. Compounds with x ≥ 1 show easy-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy at room temperature.
