Abstract

1. Pure iron films 30-10,000 A thick have been produced electrolytically, and certain of their magnetic properties have been studied. 2. As the film thickness is reduced from 10,000 A to 50 A, the saturation magnetization remains constant at 1000 G; for thinner films, it decreases rapidly. 3. The coercive force increases slowly as the thickness is decreased from 10,000 A to about 2000 A and then increases rapidly. 4. The iron deposited on electrodeposited copper is distributed more uniformly. 5. In the case of very thin films (100 A or below), the rectangularity coefficient decreases rapidly.
