Abstract
The susceptibility of a 2D electron fluid increases nonlinearly and strongly with r s in agreement with the observed enhancement of the effective g factor. The system is expected to show a near ferromagnetic response at r s = 13 which corresponds to electron density 4.5 X 10 10 cm -2 in Si inversion layers.
