Abstract

In semimagnetic semiconductors two interacting subsystems can be distinguished: mobile carriers and localized magnetic ions. Spin exchange interaction between mobile carriers and localized spins leads to signicant changes of band structure in the presence of magnetic field. Interaction between paramagnetic ions, which strongly depends on their concentration, is connected with magnetic properties of the material and also influences the electronic properties. The evolution of magnetic properties will be analyzed from the paramagnetic through spin-glass to the antiferromagnetic phase. The analysis of the magnetic properties to be described is based on specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, neutron diffraction and EPR measurements.
