Abstract

RFe10.8Re1.2 (R Y, Tb and Ho) compounds have been investigated by X-ray and magnetometry techniques in the temperature range 77–1200 K. These compounds crystallize in a tetragonal structure of the ThMn12-type. The compound YFe10.8Re1.2 is ferromagnetically ordered with Tc=460 K, while TbFe10.8Re1.2 and HoFe10.8Re1.2 show a ferrimagnetic-type ordering with Tc=475 and 448 K, respectively. YFe10.8Re1.2 has an average Fe moment of 1.82μmB at 77 K. The easy direction of magnetization is along the c-axis for R  Y, Ho and in the basal plane for R  Tb, at room temperature. The anisotropy field for YFe10.8Re1.2 alloy is 25 kOe at 295 K.
