Abstract

Static and high-frequency magnetic properties of rapidly quenched 3.7–7.5 wt% Si—Fe ribbons, about 22–32 μm in thickness and 2 mm in width, have been studied. After annealing at 1200°C for 1 h, the magnetic properties for these alloys are much improved in regard to soft magnetic characteristics. The values of coercive force, initial and maximum permeabilities measured at 1 kHz and core loss measured at 0.1 T and 10 kHz are 55 A/m, 1.4 X 10 -3 H/m, 7 x 10 -3 H/m and 4.3 W/kg, respectively, in the optimum composition range 5–6 wt% Si.
