Abstract

The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant (K u ) of Nd x Fe 100-x films reaches a maximum of 1 × 107 erg/cc at approximately x = 40. The Kerr rotation angle (? K ) remains at approximately 0.3° with little variation as x changes. For NdFeCo films perpendicularly magnetized, the coercive force H c increased with the Co content. The temperature dependence of K u in NdFeCo films was similar to that of NdFe films. The Curie temperature (T c ) of Nd 40 [Fe 1-y Co y ] 60 increased from 400 K at y = 0 to 503 K at y = 0.25.
