Abstract

Magnetism of LaNi 1- x Fe x O 3 (0≤ x ≤0.2) is investigated from 7 K to 300 K. The susceptibility of LaNiO 3 is temperature independent. The increment of the susceptibility, Δ χ, by Fe doping obeys the Curie-Weiss law at high temperatures. The effective number of Bohr magnetons is about 4 µ B per Fe ion. The asymptotic Curie temperature is negative and its absolute value increases with Fe content. At low temperatures, Δ χ deviates from the Curie-Weiss law and it seems that a certain magnetic ordering of Fe ions occurs.
