Abstract

The magnetic properties of the polycrystalline compounds RhMnGe, PdMnGe, Pd1.5Mn0.5Si, Pd1.5Mn0.5Ge and RhMnSi were investigated using magnetometric measurements. The first four compounds display ferromagnetic properties at low temperatures, whereas RhMnSi is an antiferromagnet. Their Curie (Néel) temperatures are 622 K, 576 K, 498 K, 392 K and 400 K respectively, and their magnetic moments are 3.56 μB, 3.165 μB, 2.12 μB, 1.6 μB and 2.6 μB respectively. The values determined for the magnetic moment in the saturated state are discussed in terms of Pauling's valence concept.
