Abstract

We succeeded in growing single crystals of ternary compounds Ce 3 Rh 4 Sn 13 , Pr 3 Co 4 Sn 13 and Pr 3 Rh 4 Sn 13 , and studied magnetic properties by the specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, thermal expansion and electrical resistivity measurements. Ce 3 Rh 4 Sn 13 was found to be an antiferromagnet with transition temperatures T N 1 = 1.2 K and T N 2 = 2.0 K , while Pr 3 Co 4 Sn 13 and Pr 3 Rh 4 Sn 13 have no phase transition down to 0.2 K , indicating a singlet ground state for both compounds.
