Abstract

Fe 20Ag 80 granular films prepared by ion-beam cosputtering have been investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy and dc susceptibility measurements. The as-sputtered Fe 20Ag 80 films consist of small magnetic particles embedded in the Ag matrix. The system is in a superparamagnetic state at temperatures above 30 K. Below 30 K, the film begins to show slow magnetic relaxation and by further lowering the temperature, a super-spin-glass phase is formed around 20 K.
