Abstract

Magnetic investigations of DyFe/sub 6/Al/sub 6/ compound showed that it is a ferrimagnet with the Curie temperature T/sub C/=316 K and with a relatively strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy. Below 130 K all phenomena characteristic for spin glass behaviour were observed i.e. marked thermomagnetic hysteresis, time dependence of magnetization, inflection point in magnetic isotherms, an unusual shape of the hysteresis loop and a very large rotational hysteresis. Mossbauer absorption spectra below the Curie temperature were best described by the magnetic fields distribution which proves the magnetic disordering in the Fe sublattice. From the analysis of temperature dependence of magnetic fields distributions it follows that about 30% of the Fe atoms start to order below 130 K. The results obtained suggest that magnetic ordering in the Fe sublattice is responsible for the magnetic behaviour of DyFe/sub 6/Al/sub 6/ compound below 130 K.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
