Abstract

The results of magnetic measurements on Dy(Fe x Ni 1− x ) 2 compounds are reported. The ferrimagnetic ordering evidenced from saturation data is confirmed by the paramagnetic measurements. The reciprocal susceptibility obeys a Néel-type variation. From the Curie constants the effective iron moments were determined. These values decrease little with the increase of nickel content having the same trend as the composition dependence of the 57Fe hyperfine field values. Finally, the magnetic behaviour of iron in these pseudobinary compounds is discussed.
