Abstract

In this paper, the low lying levels of d1 and low-spin d5 metal complexes possessing ground 2T2 term are considered. Strong spin–orbital interactions is taken into account along with the axial (trigonal or tetragonal) component of the crystal field. In the framework of the semi-classic adiabatic approximation, vibronic Jahn–Teller and pseudo Jahn–Teller interactions acting within the ground manifold are also considered. The influence of the low-symmetry crystal fields, covalence reduction factor, spin–orbital and Jahn–Teller interactions on the anisotropy of g-factors, temperature independent paramagnetic contributions, and magnetic susceptibility is elucidated.
