Abstract

The complex investigation of magnetic and magneto-optical properties of thin film media on the base of Tb x ( Fe 1− y Co y ) 1− x alloy produced by magnetron sputtering has been carried out including their dependence on the temperature, film thickness and concentration of main components. The influence of argon pressure on the composition and magnetic properties of the films has been studied in a wide range of pressures. It was found that the usage of the target with special construction allows to realize the process of sputtering at argon pressures lower than commonly used, which leads to the enhancement of magnetic properties of the films. The influence of compositional inhomogeneities on both form of hysteresis loops and work parameters of the system is investigated.
