Abstract

In this paper, a novel Y-shaped photonic crystal circulator based on a photonic crystal gradient changing width waveguide is proposed. The gradient changing width waveguide is constructed by triangular lattice photonic crystals with dielectric cylindrical posts. Simulation results show that the waveguide has well transmission characteristics with low ripple and high efficiency. The Y-shaped photonic crystal circulator is envisaged based on the waveguide with three ferrite posts in waveguide junction. Insertion loss and isolation of the circulator are 0.0028 dB and 53.36 dB respectively, which were theoretically analyzed through FEM method.
