Abstract

Magnetization and specific heat have been measured to determine the magnetic field versus temperature phase diagram of CsNi 0.98Fe 0.02Cl 3. The obtained phase diagram is different from those of the pure CsNiCl 3 with easy-axis anisotropy and of CsMnBr 3 with strong easy-plane anisotropy, but has features of that predicted for weak easy-plane anisotropy by Plumer et al. A novel phase boundary suggested from neutron diffraction was found to be detectable by magnetization but not by specific heat.
