Abstract

With the magnetic field H making an angle θ with the Q-vector of a single-domain sample of antiferromagnetic chromium, the spin-flip temperature: (a) for θ = 0 decreases quadratically with H; (b) for θ = π/2 is almost independent of H; and (c) for intermediate angles decreases less rapidly with H, with the ultrasonic attenuation peak which indicates the transition first bifurcating and then disappearing at sufficiently high fields, suggesting a new critical point.
