Abstract

The design of the bump magnets for the injection into the SPring-8 Storage Ring is completed. A prototype bump magnet prior to the manufacture of actual ones was constructed. The bump magnet is made of 0.1 mm thick silicon steel plate laminations. The magnet has a peak field of 2500 gauss with the half-sine-wave pulse of 6 /spl mu/sec in width. We investigated experimentally electrical and magnetic performance of the magnet. In this paper the experimental results are described. The details of the insulation for a high voltage coil and effects of ceramic chamber on the magnetic performance are also described.
