Abstract
Magnetic moments of octet baryons are calculated in a non-relativistic quark model with scalar binding, using a model for SU(3) breaking developed earlier. Violation of ordinary spin symmetry is also considered, leading to a mixture of spin-orbital states. Consistency relations are derivable. In a special case, restricted to the 56, the results are given explicitly.
