Abstract

A relationship between magnetic field micropulsations and the pulsating aurora at College, Alaska, was reported earlier [Campbell, 1960]. The present letter is to note the increase in ionospheric absorption during such times of pulsations. Figure 1 shows the north magnetic axis micropulsations in the 5- to 30-second period range (full scale is approximately 10.0 gamma), pulsating 3914 A aurora from 90° of sky, and 27.6 Mc/s cosmic-noise measurements of ionospheric absorption [Little and Leinbach, 1959]. A paper is being prepared for publication in this journal discussing this past winter's observations more fully.
